WINGS OF STARLIGHT: FIRST READ REVIEW

WINGS OF STARLIGHT by ALLISON SAFT

It took me three whole days to read this book and I regret not taking more time. I could have given my poor heart a few more days of being whole and healthy. Now I am a shattered mess of tears and hysteria and pain.

Technically, I knew how this was going to end. We all knew Clarion and Milori get their happy ending in the movie. But can you blame a girl of hoping for a little epilogue? Even just a page? There was no epilogue. There was only pain.

I am sure everyone who is going to read this book will already know about Queen Clarion and Lord Milori but still for the sake of this blog, here it goes: warm and winter fairies live in Pixie Hollow in four different seasons. The warm fairies cannot go to the Winter and the winter fairies cannot come to any of the warm seasons because that can hurt their wings. Princess Clarion, living in Summer is going to be coronated in one month when a huge problem arises and puts all of Pixie Hollow at risk. Princess Clarion does not agree with Queen Elvina in how to handle the problems and tries to solve it on her own - which means partnering with Milori, the Warden of the Winter Woods. Enter yearning and forbidden and sweet and everything in between.

Even though we knew exactly what would have happened, it still broke every piece of me in ways that would never be mended. Clarion and Malori are the sweetest, most adorable, and perfect characters that were ever shipped. And the yearning, oh, the yearning. Don't even get me started. I thought forbidden and yearning could not get better than Nikolai Lantsov and Zoya Nazyalenksy but this? Clarion and Milori crushed that yearning. These two are my new standard and I doubt anyone will ever get close to them.

Author did not disappoint at all with her amazing storytelling and kept up this legend with exactly how much angst and pain and romance was needed. This was my first book by Allison Saft and I already know she is one of my favourite fantasy writers already.

I love this book from the bottom of my shattered heart and I will never get over this even if Clarion and Milori get their very deserved happily ever after in the Tinker Bell film Secret of the Wings. Author might have thought we were God's strongest soldiers but we are not and we definitely did not survive this once in a lifetime experience.

Now, I am going to bury myself inside my blankets and read contemporary HEA romances until my soul is back to functioning and Clarion and Milori are not at the forefront of my thought every second of the day.

Goodbye, everyone.
