REVIEW:

This was my first time reading this author, and I must admit I wasn’t expecting go read beyond the first twenty or so pages. But, oh I did. I finished the whole book in a single day (with half a day left) and I was not disappointed.

Actually, I was disappointed, but not for reasons concerning the writing. The writing was great: slow at first but then it became really engaging and I must applaud the author for the well-paced humour. The world-building was contemporary fiction, and I don’t know if it was real enough (I have no idea how it works in European monarchies) but was nice enough.

The story is about Alora, a broke American overachiever who is doing double majors in one of the most prestigious universities of Europe while juggling a lot of part-time jobs to make ends meet. One of these jobs include tutoring, and enter the crown prince (and only prince) of Eldinburgh (the fictional European country in which the story is set) who is not really stupid, but just lazy. He found it easier to pass on the account of his royal identity and continued to do so just because it was easier. Now he has bargained one year of reprieve from his royal duties (which he hates, but we get the undertone that he loves them too in a way) in exchange for good grades.

And of course, Prince Niko Priestly chooses the only tutor who is too busy to know who the crown prince is – because she is cute.

It was entertaining and engaging, with the sweet, ethical, good-hearted heroine who has more integrity than sense (and she has a lot of sense already), and the privileged, adorably ignorant of unprivileged lives, and also good-hearted hero.

The only disappointment was: the book ends kind of abruptly. Not exactly a cliffhanger, but almost one. Not that it is much of an issue, considering the next two parts were published in the same year. Seriously, this author is a monster of writing - she writes more than I can even think.

But, really, if you want a quick, easy, entertaining, and cheesy read, this book is for you!
