REVIEW:
Okay, so,
this was a series my Tumblr bestie had been forcing me to read for almost a year
before I finally felt like reading an elf fantasy romance. And I must say, I am
so grateful to her for recommending me this beautiful, beautiful series.
Essie is the
only princess of Escarland and is the apple of the eye of her brothers Averett,
Julien, and Edmund. Escarland had been at a war with their neighbouring elf
kingdom, Taranhiel, for a few years before the kings of both kingdoms were
killed and a brittle treaty was signed. Now fifteen years later, the tensions
are high and Essie proposes the brilliant idea of a marriage alliance to encourage
peace – thinking the elves would refuse, thanks to their revulsion of humans,
and finally do something at their end. But no one would have thought they would
actually agree, and now Essie has to tread new waters (or forests, more
accurately) with her shy, skittish, adorable killer elf husband,
Farrendel.
This series
navigates a lot of romances and a lot of personalities while keeping it
perfectly balanced between happy, humorous, and tragic. And the character
developments are just… great. It is not often I read something where the
characters leave such a huge imprint on me, but this series did it.
I highly recommend
this book to anyone who want a soothing young adult, fantasy read with lots of
cute moments. Because there are a lot of cute moments (thank you, Essie
and Farrendel).
And at last,
this is for Maria, my Tumblr bestie (who will probably never read this blog
because she doesn’t yet know I write blogs):
- Edmund (yes, sue me but he is the
best and I am marrying him and that is final.)
- Weylind (there is just something about
stoic big brothers that make me want to jump them.)
- Averett
- Julien
- Rharreth (sorry babe, but me likes my
men with a little less honour and a lot more mischief.)
- Farrendel (and he is at the bottom of
the list only because I want him as my BABY HE IS SO ADORABLE.)
Signing off
to read the novellas, I hope at least one of you pick this amazing book one day
too!
